The Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson didn’t have a memorable return to Team India ODI side as he was dismissed for only 9 runs in 19 balls, succumbing to the spin trickery of leg-spinner Yannic Cariah in the second ODI match against the West Indies, on Saturday, in Barbados.
Sanju Samson was playing his first international match in six months – his last game for India was in early January in a T20I, while his last ODI appearance came in November 2022.
His fans had been expecting Sanju Samson to make the most out of this opportunity which was created as two senior India players, skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, were rested from the 2nd ODI.
WATCH: Sanju Samson looked utterly confused to Yannic Cariah’s spinning ball

Sanju Samson’s downfall in the 2nd ODI was brought by leg-spinner Yannic Cariah, who is playing only his 10th ODI match and Samson became his 11th ODI scalp.
It was length delivery that pitched on middle and off and turned considerably. Seeing the length, Samson was on his back foot, opening up his front leg. However, the right-hander was left utterly confused as to what shot to play to his ball that had a bit of bounce and turn, and played almost a nothing shot, edging to first slip fielder Brandon King.

Samson and his fans would have wanted the Kerala star to grab this chance as it has already come because Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are injured and now Rohit and Kohli were rested. With Rohit and Kohli set to return for the 3rd ODI, and now Sanju Samson scoring only 9 runs, it is all but certain that he will get dropped from the next game, which has made it really difficult for him to make a case for selection in the squad for the Asia Cup next month.
