Shubman Gill

Young India opener Shubman Gill turned 24 on Friday and celebrated his special occasion with his Indian teammates and support staff in Colombo, where India will be playing their Super 4 matches in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.

The stylish opener Shubman Gill had made his India debut in 2019 and currently holds a certain position in the Test and ODI team. He’s expected to do great things in the future; in the immediate future, though, the 24-year-old will want to make significant contributions to India’s campaign in the World Cup 2023 at home.

Leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav shared the video of the celebration of Shubman Gill’s birthday in the hotel the team is staying. Ishan Kishan, Mohammed Siraj, Axar Patel, and other members around him smeared some of the cake on the birthday boy’s face and there were all smiles around.

Kuldeep captioned the post: “Happy birthday my bro @ShubmanGill”

Shubman Gill returns to form vs Nepal ahead of PAK clash in Super 4

Gill has batted twice in the Asia Cup 2023 so far with mixed returns. In the first match against Pakistan, the right-hander scored 10 runs in 32 balls and was troubled by the pace and swing of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah before being bowled by a high-pace delivery from Haris Rauf.

After his disappointing knock vs Pakistan, Shubman Gill rocked back to form against Nepal, playing a breezy knock of 67* in India’s 10-wicket win. This knock from Gill also saw him attain big in the ICC Men’s ODI batsman ranking as he moved to the 3rd position.

India and Pakistan will meet again this Sunday in Colombo. However, the weather for the next week in Colombo is not positive for cricket as rains are forecasted for the coming days in the capital of Sri Lanka. Pakistan have already kicked off their Super 4 round with a massive 7-wicket win over Bangladesh in Lahore. A victory or a wash-out against India will all but put them in the final.
