Young India batsman Shubman Gill was invited to the ‘Global Peace Honours’ event at the Gateway of India on Sunday, November 23, organized by the Divyaj Foundation, led by Amruta Fadnavis, to honor the families of the soldiers, who fought and lost their lives in the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai in 2008.

Today, Sunday, marked the 15th anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai Attack. For the unversed, on November 26, 2008, 10 terrorists entered south Mumbai via the sea and launched attacks at multiple locations in the city including the famous Taj Hotel. The attack by the Pakistani terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) claimed the lives of over 150 people and injured over 300 people.

The Divyaj Foundation hosted an event today inviting many famous celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan and Shubman Gill. Over 500 distinguished guests from various fields, including politics, philanthropists, and entertainers such as film stars and cricketers were present.

A video has gone viral of Shubman Gill meeting with the families of the Indian soldiers of the 26/11 attacks.

Speaking about the event, Amruta Fadnavis said, “Global Peace Honours is our way of acknowledging the selflessness and bravery of those who stood strong for peace and also the resilience of Mumbai which kept us together.”

Shubman Gill likely to be named Gujarat Titans skipper

Hardik Pandya’s transfer to Mumbai Indians was confirmed on Sunday evening, and so was Cameron Green’s transfer to RCB. This means that Shubman Gill is likely to be named the new captain of the Gujarat Titans, which would be his first experience of leading an IPL franchise since he made his debut in 2018 for KKR. However, GT also have experienced options in Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan.

Shubman has cemented his place in India’s ODI and Test team, and this potential move of getting Gujarat’s captaincy would see him bolster his stocks for India’s T20I team for next year’s T20 World Cup, right after the IPL.
