As India prepares for the T20 World Cup 2024, Shubman Gill will make his return in the upcoming T20I series in South Africa. With uncertainty around the T20I future of Rohit Sharma, India have tried a few young openers in T20Is including Gill, Gaikwad, Kishan, and Jaiswal.

Gill has been rested from the ODI series in South Africa, but he’s expected to play in a three-day practice intra-squad practice match ahead of the Test series. Gill is likely to take the number 3 position in the Test team with Jaiswal opening, as he did in the West Indies.
