[VIDEO] Shubman Gill’s Straight Drive Reminded Fans Of Sachin Tendulkar

Young India opener Shubman Gill showed his versatility and adaptability in his fighting knock against Bangladesh on a two-paced pitch in Colombo in what was the last match of the Super 4 round in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.

While he lost partners at the other end, and couldn’t really get a long partnership going with anyone, Shubman Gill held his own end for a gritty, Test match-like innings against Bangladesh in the chase of 266 runs.

India lost captain Rohit Sharma in the first over itself. To counter-punch, Shubman Gill started off with a beautiful straight drive four to left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman. This gorgeous straight drive from Gill reminded fans of the great Sachin Tendulkar. The balance, the poise, the delectable timing from Shubman Gill on that straight drive was so much similar to the ones Tendulkar used to stoke.

India currently find themselves in a bit of a pickle in their run-chase. Chasing 266, the Men In Blue are in trouble at 149/5 at the time of writing, with Gill batting on 80 unbeaten runs off 108 balls and Jadeja is there in the middle to partner him. India will need this pair to bat deep as the next batters are Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur. This game comes further as a wake-up call for the batters ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 final.

Shakib Al Hasan was the top-scorer for Bangladesh with 80 runs. But it was their tail that wagged too much as India failed to take the wickets in death overs.
