Dinesh Karthik was lucky to get into Team India’s squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Karthik, who has been in great form off late, was picked as Manisha Pandey’s replacement. He is one of the most underrated cricketers in India and this will probably be his last chance to impress the selectors for a longish run in Team India’s playing XI.
Karthik played two warmup matches for India. In the first match, he got out without troubling the scorers. But, in the second match against Bangladesh, he batted brilliantly and scored 94 unbeaten runs before he was replaced in the middle to give batting practice to other batsmen.
On Karthik’s 32nd birthday, the whole team gave him a memorable cake facial. Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja smashed the entire piece of cake on Karthik’s face. The Tamil-Nadu batsman tried to escape but the whole team was holding him from back and it was impossible for him to get away. The players were then seen throwing cake on each other. Watch it here:
