India vs Australia 2017, Day 3, Third Test, Ranchi: The drama started right from the first over as India’s fast bowler Umesh Yadav broke Glenn Maxwell’s bat on the first delivery of the day.

Yadav is the fastest bowler in India and he has impressed one and all with his performances in the last couple of series. His biggest criticism was lack of consistency but now he has worked very hard on his bowling and he is a much improved bowler than what he was 12 months ago.

Talking about the ‘breaking bat’ incident, there was nothing special about the delivery but it hit very high on Maxwell’s bat and the bat was broken immediately into two pieces. Umesh Yadav bowled a pitched up delivery and Maxwell played a good looking forward defence but the impact of the delivery was such that a big part of Maxwell’s willow came out flying. Obviously, everybody saw the funny side of it and Maxwell could do nothing but laugh. But it is surely not a good advertisement from Maxwell’s bat makers.
