It’s the Ashes that is going on and when it comes to Ashes the emotions are always at the pinnacle. As Australia defeated England without losing a wicket in the 170 run chase in the first test, David Warner paid an emotional tribute to his friend, Phil Hughes who met with an accident on the cricket field 3 years ago.

3 years ago, on this day Phil Hughes while playing a match for South Australia was hit on the side of the head and collapsed then and there causing his sad demise. The incident sent chills across the cricket fraternity and all the cricket fans. Phil was just 25 when this misery took the better of him.

As Warner played a knock of 63 to guide his team to victory, he paid a beautiful tribute to Phil Hughes on his 3rd Death Anniversary. Warner was seen playing with an armband which had initials of Phil Hughes on it. Warner had already done this a couple of times before. After the chase was complete, Warner looked up to the sky and paid a tribute to his lost mate, Phil Hughes.

It was one emotional moment and Ashes surely was the best place for this lovely tribute by Warner to Late Phil Hughes. The official Twitter handle of Cricket Australia posted the video of David Warner paying the tribute to Phil Hughes with a zoomed in view of the band which had ‘PH’ written on it.

Steve Smith also paid an emotional tribute to Phil Hughes with an emotional tweet.
