One of the most powerful West Indians to have come out recently is Evin Lewis. The batsman is explosive and once he gets going, he cannot be stopped. In the recent England-West Indies tour, the Windies need a win in order to stay alive in the five match series as they lost the first and third after the second one got washed out.

In the fourth ODI, Lewis put on an absolute show of pyrotechnics, smashing boundaries all over the ground as he bid to become only the sixth man in history to score a double century in ODI cricket.

Injury hampered:

He was going great guns in the innings, having blasted 176 off a mere 130 balls in his fantastic innings for his nation. It seemed like Lewis would break the record, about to follow in the footsteps of Sehwag, Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Gayle and Guptill as the only men to have achieved the feat.

However, his bid to do so came to a sad end due to an injury he picked up off a Jake Ball delivery. This meant that he had to retire hurt and was not able to complete the innings in order to reach the coveted milestone.

It won’t be long before he does so, because of the kind of power that he possesses. Lewis was also backed by Gayle to break many records soon.
