VIDEO: Virat Kohli Salutes Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s Hitting Skills

Cricket LoungeBy Cricket Lounge22/10/2017Updated:09/02/2023No Comments2 Mins Read

Gone are the days when you could say that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is just about bowling. The young gun is making sure that he contributes with the bat too whenever his team needs him and he has recently made it very evident to all of us that he can even swing the bat like pro.

He has made sure that he exhibits his batting skills in the lower middle order and his little contributions have started to matter to team India’s fortunes! Let us reiterate, Jersey Number 15 for Team India isn’t just one of the best death bowlers but also a valuable package of batting.

In the first encounter with the Kiwis at Wankhede in the ongoing One Day series India won the toss and asked the Williamson’s men to sweat out in the humid conditions and witness India’s batting.

India however got jitters at the top of the order with both openers falling cheaply and thereafter almost every Indian batsman seemed in a hurry to go back to the pavilion. Thanks to Kohli’s charismatic ton that India could get a decent score on the board. But the cherry on the cake was Bhuvneshwar’s little cameo that meant so much.

So, while the top order collapsed and the middle order fell like a house of cards it was once again Bhuvneshwar who did a Superman for India. Bhuvneshwar smashed 26 runs from 15 balls to take India’s score to 280 which seemed handsome especially after how the batting stalwarts failed to perform. Bhuvneshwar hit 2 fours and 2 sixes in this very vital cameo even if it went in a losing cause.

Kohli was all praises for Bhuvneshwar and despite a long tiring innings he was ecstatic about this little gem of an innings from Bhuvneshwar. In the 49th over as Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent the ball flying over the ropes across the long on captain Kohli bowed down to acknowledge this batting display of courage and skills.

How do you feel when you see one of the best batsman of the modern day who just left outnumbered Ricky Ponting in ODI centuries bowing to someone else’s batting? India couldn’t defend the total which otherwise seemed competitive but seeing Virat bow down to Bhuvneshwar’s shot is still the best thing you would have seen today.
