Virat Kohli Achieved A Historic Feat With Mumbai Test Win

Virat Kohli and co. thrashed the World Test Champions New Zealand cricket team in the just-concluded Mumbai Test match at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. India wrapped up Kiwis in just 45 minutes to script a record win at the Wankhede and subsequently clinch the two-Test series 1-0.

Resuming Day 4 at 140/5, overnight Kiwi batters Rachin Ravindra (18) and Henry Nicholls managed to add only 22 more runs to the total before Rachin was dismissed by Jayant Yadav, and the visitors were staring down the barrel, still needing 378 runs for a win with just four wickets in hand. But Jayant wasn’t done yet, as, in his very next over, he dismissed Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee. The final two wickets also fell in quick succession and in the end, the Indian side defeated New Zealand with a huge margin of 372 runs.

On Monday, on team India thrashed New Zealand to win the 2-match series, the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli achieved a historic feat as he added another feather to his already glorious hat. Virat became the first player to record 50 international wins in each format of the game.

With this win, the Indian side is also back at the number 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings. The official Twitter account of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) congratulated Virat Kohli with a special post as he achieved this milestone. BCCI wrote:

“Congratulations @imVkohli. The first player with 50 international wins in each format of the game. #TeamIndia”

With this win, India has now stretched their unbeaten run to 14 consecutive Test series win at home having last lost a home series in 2013. Interestingly, out of 14, 11 of these came under the leadership of Virat Kohli.
