The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the updated One Day International (ODI) team and players’ rankings. There’s a significant improvement in the positions of the Indian players on the list like Virat Kohli. India’s young sensation Shubman Gill has attained a career-best second position and is the highest-ranked among three Indian players who are now in the top 10 of the ICC men’s ODI batting rankings.

Gill, who scored a crafty half-century (58) and figured in a 121-run opening partnership with captain Rohit Sharma in the Asia Cup 2023 game against arch-rivals Pakistan, has moved up one spot. In 4 innings, Shubman Gill has scored 154 runs with the help of 2 fifties. He is the second-highest run-scorer for India in the competition.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have also gained two places each and are sitting in the eighth and ninth positions, respectively. Rohit Sharma scored a fifty against Sri Lanka while Kohli hit an unbeaten 122 against Pakistan.

Babar Azam is currently sitting on the first position in the list with 863 points, with Gill in the second position and South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen in the third spot.

Notably, this is the first time since 2019 that India have as many as three batters in the top ten of ICC Rankings for ODI batters
