Indian test specialist and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane is one of the very talented cricketers Team India currently has as far as the longest format of the game is concerned. Over the years, Ajinkya Rahane has given us many brilliant performances and has helped Team India win many important matches during crucial times.

However, in the just concluded two-match Test series, that India lost to New Zealand by 0-2, Ajinkya Rahane failed to give the best of his abilities throughout the series. He could only register figures of 46 and 28 in the first Test match, followed by 7 and 9 in the second test match. Ajinkya Rahane was seen struggling against the short-pitched deliveries by Kiwi pacers.
Because of his bad form in the series, he has found himself under the scanner and is getting criticized for the same.
Recently, the Indian skipper was asked about the poor performance of Ajinkya Rahane but he defended Ajinkya Rahane and showered praises on him. He talked about how Ajinkya Rahane’s brilliance has helped India in crucial times. He said:
“Collectively as a batting unit we did not perform. We take the hit together as a group, batting group as a team. Firstly, Jinx is one of those players who has been very solid for us in Test cricket. I don’t look at averages and numbers. It’s about impact performances. You know whether he is been able to make impact performances for the team and the answer for me is yes.”

He added:
“Whenever we have required important performance from him, more often than not he has delivered in that regard. Jinx for us has been pretty solid as far as I see it. He has put his hands upon many occasions when the team has been in trouble. There are no issues there,”
