Virat Kohli Finally Breaks The Silence On His Rest

Virat Kohli would not feature in ODI series as well as the T20 series against Sri Lanka. The Kotla Test was the last assignment for Virat Kohli this year and he would be amply happy that he ended the Kotla Test with hai career best score. In Virat’s absence, the stunning opener, Rohit Sharma will be captaining the side.

Virat has been playing relentlessly since last 48 months or so and this is why the stalwart batsman urged the board for rest. The board understood the reason and Kohli was granted the much needed rest.

Speaking in the post match ceremony after the conclusion of the third test, Kohli spoke about the reason he demanded rest for. No it’s not his marriage but!

Virat has had an amazing year and with 2818 runs he became the first Indian player to pile up so many runs in a calendar year. Having defeated Sri Lanka 1-0, India also grabbed its 9th straight series win which equals Australia’s record.

Taking about reasons of having asked for rest Kohli said, “ I have been playing non stop for 48 months. I need rest.”

Kohli also talked about the fact that due to excessive workload his body is demanding rest. He added that his body has taken a toll in the last two years and this was a much needed rest ahead of the tough tour of South Africa.

India’s encounter with the Proteas will start from 5th January. This would be the start of the test series between the Number 1 team in the world and the Number 2 team in the world.

Playing at home the Number 2 team might just have the upper and it would be a demanding test of character for Kohli and his men.
