The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 game between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Lucknow on Monday ended on a controversial note. The game witnessed some ugly scenes as RCB star batter Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir had a heated exchange of words.
Virat Was Indulged In An Ugly With Gambhir

Throughout the game, Virat could be seen being quite animated whenever an LSG batter was getting dismissed. Notably, the last time both the team’s locked horns in Bengaluru in an IPL 2023 game, Gambhir had gestured towards the Bengaluru crowd with a ‘shut up’ sign. Though, it is not clear whether Virat was reacting to that, but he was seen pumping the crowd, sending flying kisses to the fans and the fans were loving all of it.
However, after the match, things got heated after the game ended as Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq were involved in a heated exchange. Gambhir too joined the ugly spat and was seen in a heated conversation with Kohli.
Virat Kohli And Gautam Gambhir Fined Heavily
Meanwhile, the BCCI has slapped heavy charges on the trio for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. In an official statement, the BCCI fined 50% of Gambhir’s match fees.
“Lucknow Super Giants’ Mentor Gautam Gambhir has been fined 100 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Mr Gambhir admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct,” an IPL statement read
Further, IPL via their official statement also slapped a heavy punishment on Virat Kohli, who has been fined 100 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. The statement read:
“Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Virat Kohli has been fined 100 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Mr Kohli admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct,”
While Gambhir and Virat were fined 100 percent of their match-fee, LSG’s bowler Naveel-ul-Haq was fine 50% of his match fee as he admitted to Level 1 of the offense. The statement read:
“Lucknow Super Giants’ Bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has been fined 50 per cent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Mr Naveen-ul-Haq admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct,”
Talking about the game, RCB defended the lowest total in IPL 2023. After posting a total of 126/9 on the scoreboard the Faf du Plessis-led side made a brilliant comeback in the second half with the ball as they managed to restrict LSG to 108 runs, winning the game by 18 runs.
