Batting maestro Virat Kohli was the center of attraction in the just-concluded 1st Test match between India and Sri Lanka as he was playing the 100th Test match of his career. The BCCI allowed spectators to witness Virat’s milestone achievement Test in the stadium at the last moment. Therefore, the fans were able to experience some unforgettable moments on-field on the occasion of Virat’s historic match.
Though, he didn’t shine much with his bat, but he entertained the spectators in his 100th Test match. While on-field Virat encouraged the spectators to cheer for the Men in Blue, later, he won everyone’s hearts with his heartfelt gesture for India’s superfan Dharamveer Pal.
Well, there are fans, and then there are superfans, Dharamveer Pal is one such superfan. He is a die-hard India and Chennai Super Kings fan from Tamil Nadu.
Dharamveer Pal is a widely-recognized polio-afflicted fan of the Indian cricket team, who is often called ‘India’s unofficial 12th man’ as he used to have a near-permanent presence near the boundary line during India’s matches for years, however, in 2017 he was stopped from functioning as a ball-boy after the BCCI received criticism on social media that it is insensitive of him being the boundary rider.
Dharamveer Pal also plays cricket and is the captain of the Madhya Pradesh Divyang Cricket Team. All India Cricket Association organizes competitions for Divyang cricketers, whereinDharmaveer represents Madhya Pradesh. “Cricket is the reason for my living,” reads a tattoo on Dharamveer’s left arm.
Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team was leaving the stadium after a stunning 222-run victory over Sri Lanka on Sunday. At that time, while walking towards the bus, Virat Kohli saw Dharamveer and gifted him India’s jersey. Due to the bio-bubble restriction, Virat couldn’t spend much time with the superfan.
The video of the same has been going viral on the internet and has been winning hearts. Dharamveer shared the video on his official Twitter handle. Here, watch the video:
