After winning the toss, Kohli made the right decision as he won the toss and decided to bat first under overcast conditions. Kohli believes that the pitch will quicken up as the game goes on and that putting on a big first innings score will be key for the visiting side. He said:

“Runs on the board and away from home that has been our strength. The wicket has grass on it and the pitch tends to get quicker as the game goes on,”

He added:

“This is a very challenging place to play cricket. We will have to be at our best.”

Meanwhile, with this toss win, Virat Kohli achieved another milestone as he surpassed skipper Mohammad Azharuddin’s tally to become the Indian skipper with the most toss wins in Test cricket.  So far, the Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli has won 30 tosses for India in 68 Tests, which is now the highest number of tosses won by any skipper.
