The Indian and RCB skipper Virat Kohli is hailed as the modern legend of cricket, all thanks to his terrific performances over the years. He has also been one of the most decorated players in the Indian Premier League. Over the years,

Virat Kohli has been associated with RCB since its inception in 2008 and ever since then, he has made numerous records and achieved several milestones while playing for RCB. He became the regular captain at Royal Challengers in 2013. So far, he has captained 132 matches and is only behind CSK’s skipper MS Dhoni, who has captained 196 matches.

Not just this, tonight, when Virat Kohli will take the field for the RCB side on 20th September 2021 against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) side, Virat will achieve another milestone in his career with RCB. Kohli will step out, donning the red and gold jersey of RCB for the 200th time and he will be the first-ever cricketer from the Bangalore-based franchise to achieve this feat.

However, he isn’t the first man to play 200 IPL matches as Chennai Super Kings’ MS Dhoni holds the record for playing the most matches in IPL history. So far, MS has played 212 IPL matches and has amassed 4672 runs in IPL cricket. Apart from him, the other 3 players who have achieved this feat are:  Rohit Sharma (207 matches), Dinesh Karthik (203 matches), and Suresh Raina (201 matches).

But the thing that makes Virat Kohli’s achievement more special and unique is the fact that he has played all those 200 matches for a single franchise, unlike the other players.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Virat left fans were left heartbroken after Royal Challengers Bangalore announced his decision of stepping down from RCB’s captaincy after IPL 2021. But the skipper made it clear that he will continue to play for the franchise as a batsman.

During IPL 2008, the Under-19 players were chosen under a draft system and Delhi Daredevils got the first pick. Delhi went for left-arm pacer Pradeep Sangwan & @RCBTweets picked Virat Kohli.

Kohli is the only player to play for one IPL team since 2008.
