Virat Kohli Made A Strong Statement About His Comeback In Asia Cup

Even though Virat Kohli is currently on a vacation in Paris with his family, chatter around his on-field performances has continued with some or the other “expert” voicing their opinions. Fair Enough.

Now, the main man himself, Virat Kohli, has sent out a strong message to the pundits and fans and the opposition for the upcoming Asia Cup scheduled for the end of August.

In the last edition of the tournament, in 2018, the then-captain Kohli had taken a rest from the Asia Cup where Rohit Sharma led the side to the title. Now, though, Kohli will return to the tournament under Sharma’s captaincy and the former skipper, who has struggled for big scores and consistency in recent times, has already marked his authority with a strong statement.

Kohli, who remains India’s highest run-getter in Asia Cup tournament with 766 runs in 14 innings across the two formats, has assured his fans that he’s doing everything possible to help the team win the titles – Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup later in the year in Australia.

“My main aim is to help India win the Asia Cup and the World Cup and for that I am ready to do anything for the team,” said Kohli in a promo released by Star Sports.

Here, check out Virat Kohli’s assertive statement:

Asia Cup is crucial for Virat Kohli’s T20I career

Many great former cricketers have made varied opinions on Kohli’s form and position in the eleven. India’s 1983 World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev has boldly called out Kohli’s place in the eleven, saying that the 33-year-old is not indispensable anymore and can be dropped from the eleven if he doesn’t perform.

Whereas the likes of legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar and Australia’s World Cup-winning captain Ricky Ponting have backed Kohli to find his mojo again after his ongoing one-month break.

After having one of his worst-ever IPL seasons with the bat, Kohli was rested from the South Africa and Ireland T20Is. He, however, had a poor tour of England – managing scores of 11 and 20 in the Edgbaston Test, 1 and 11 in the T20Is and concluded with scores of 16 and 17 in the ODIs

He then demanded a rest from the entire ODI and T20I tour of West Indies, and there are reports that will return for the Zimbabwe tour when a second-string unit will be sent for 3 ODIs to get back in form before the Asia Cup starting on August 27 either in Sri Lanka or UAE.
