Mothers are the most beautiful person you’ll ever know. She is also the strongest and the most caring person ever, someone who will always l stand by you even if it means going against the whole world. Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli‘s mother, Saroj Kohli is no different. When it comes to caring and worrying for her son’s well-being, Kohli’s mother is just like every mother in the world.
Virat Kohli Talked About His Bond With His Mother
Recently, in an interview with renowned presenter Jatin Sapru for the Star Sports Network, Kohli revealed how his mother is always worried for his well-being. He also said that he has always derived his happiness by providing his mother with the simplest of things that make her happy.
Virat Kohli also opened up about how the caring side of his personality grew as a trait within him ever since he lost his father at the age of 18. Thus, the bond between him and his mother doesn’t really bother to care about the modern-day fitness regime of athletes. He said:
“Log fitness ki baatein kar rahe hote hain, woh shaam ko phone karengi match ke baad ki ‘Kitne kamzor lag rahe ho, kuch khaate kyun nahi?’ Maine kaha, ‘Yaar, ek taraf log pooch rahe hain ki kya kar rahe ho, aur ek taraf meri mummy bol rahi hai ki paranthe nahi khaate tum.’ Unko lagta hai main bimaar hun. 8-9 saalon se main bimaar hi hun. Mujhse kuch nahi keh raha, bata nahi raha hai mujhe!”
(which roughly translates to: People are constantly talking about my fitness and my mother would call me in the evening after matches and would be like, ‘Why do you look so weak?’ I am like, on one end people are asking me about my fitness routine, and my mother on the other end is telling me why I ain’t having Paranthas! She thinks that I’m ill. I’ve been ill for the past 8-9 years, and I’m not deliberately letting her know.)
Earlier during an interview, Virat Kohli remarked that since he is quite settled in his professional life, he feels happy and content only when he is at home. He also revealed how after playing a certain game, the first thing he wishes is to take a flight back home.
