The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli has been a part of many memorable and iconic matches for team India and in most matches, he played at the forefront of India’s victories. Just like several other Indian cricketers, Viral Kohli’s favorite match is also the ODI World Cup final against Sri Lanka, which took place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
During that iconic match, Virat Kohli had walked out to bat at No. 4 after the fall of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Virat had played a crucial knock of 35 runs and forged an 83-run stand with Gautam Gambhir to stabilize team India’s run chase.

Besides this iconic match, there’s another match that Virat Kohli will always remember. Recently, Virat Kohli revealed that the 2016 World T20 quarter-final game against Australia in Mohali played on March 27. During this match, Virat Kohli played an unbeaten knock of 82 runs, where he smashed a thrilling six-wicket win with five balls to spare and helped the men in blue to enter the semi-finals in the tournament.
However, during the tournament, team India later had to face a crushing defeat of seven-wickets at the hands of the West Indies. Speaking about the memorable match on Star Sports ‘Cricket Connected’ show, Virat Kohli revealed:
“Apart from the 2011 finals, my other favourite match from the atmosphere and importance of the game point of view, would be the 2016 T20 quarter-finals against Australia in Mohali,”
Meanwhile, the sporting events around the world remain suspended because of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which has wreaked havoc across the world. Recently, he opened up about playing the Indian Premier League and other tournaments behind the closed doors. He had expressed how the “magical” atmosphere will be missing but also said that it is the need of the hour. He said:
“It’s quite a possible situation, it might happen, I honestly don’t know how everyone is going to take that because we all are used to playing in front of so many passionate fans,”

He added:
“Things will still go on, but I doubt that one will feel that magic happening inside because of the atmosphere that was created. We will play sports how it is supposed to be played, but those magical moments will be difficult to come by,”
Furthermore, Virat Kohli claimed that playing without the audience won’t dampen the competitive side of matches. He had said:
“I know matches will be played at a very good intensity”
He added:
“But that feeling of the crowd connecting with the players and the tension of the game where everyone goes through it in the stadium, those emotions are difficult to recreate“
