Indian Cricket Team scripted history as they became the ICC T20 World Cup champions on June 29. It was the hard work of all the players in the team that they finally managed to win the World Cup. For the last 11 years, India have been very unlucky in the ICC tournaments in the last 11 years. They have really played well but have faltered either in the semi final or in the final. 7 months ago, the team reached the final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, after winning all the 10 games in the lead up to the final. However, they suffered a painful defeat in the final in Ahmedabad. The players and the fans were heartbroken and in tears. PM Narendra Modi went to the Indian dressing room and consoled the players.

Now, after the T20 World Cup 2024 win, Indian team reached the Delhi airport and went to meet with the PM. Modi had a good interaction with all the players and even posed with the trophy with them. He cracked jokes and was seen in a very jovial mood with the Indian players. He surely must be very happy just like all other Indians, as life has come to him in a full circle from the pain Ahmedabad. India’s two legendary players, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from T20I’s after the final.

Rohit was sensational during the T20 World Cup 2024. He led from the front and took India to quick starts in the tournament. He played some of the crucial innings against Australia and England. On the other hand, Kohli was having a tough time till the final, where he stepped up like a champion when the chips were down and bailed India out of trouble. Modi had a jovial interaction with both these players especially.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Kohli shared a special message for PM Modi. “What a great honour meeting our honourable prime minister shri narendra modi ji today @narendramodi Thank you sir for inviting us to the prime ministers residence.”
