On the morning of Saturday, 26th November, Virat Kohli recalled what he had rated as his best T20I innings for India.
A little over a month ago, King Kohli send the world into delirium as he produces an all-time great – perhaps even the greatest – T20 World Cup knock against arch-rivals Pakistan at the MCG to kick start India and his T20 World Cup 2022 campaign on a surreal note.
Chasing 160, India found themselves reeling at 31/4 before Kohli and Hardik Pandya bailed them out of trouble and started attacking later in the innings in a partnership of 113 runs in 78 balls.
With 48 needed in the last 3 overs and Pandya struggling to hit the hard and short lengths of the Pakistani fast bowlers, Kohli creamed Shaheen Afridi for three fours in an over and then smoked Haris Rauf for two sixes – including that six down the ground – to bring the equation down to 16 runs needed in the last balls.
Spinner Mohammad Nawaz lost his cool and panicked in the last over to bowl two wides and a no-ball – which Kohli hit for a six – and R Ashwin calmly finished the run-chase on the last ball.
Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 82* off 53 balls with the help of 6 fours and 4 sixes, ranking this knock of his higher than the one against Australia in Mohali in a virtual quarter-final in the 2016 T20 WC “because of the magnitude of the game and what the situation was”.
Virat Kohli’s Insta post reminiscing his epic knock

The 34-year-old who is currently on a rest from the New Zealand tour took to Instagram to post a solo picture of himself soaking in all the emotions and looking at the crowd in raptures – which he’d consigned them to with his incredible knock.
“October 23rd 2022 will always be special in my heart. Never felt energy like that in a cricket game before. What a blessed evening that was,” Virat Kohli captioned his Instagram post.
“It’s a surreal atmosphere. I honestly have no words. I have no idea how that happened,” Kohli had said after the game.
