Virat and Surya stitched a match-altering 104-run partnership off 62 balls. While SKY played in his usual attacking mode and impressed one and all with his strokeplay, on the other hand, Virat played the role of an anchor as Surya smashed big hits for fun. After SKY’s dismissal, Kohli accelerated the innings and smashed the Australian bowlers to all the corners of the ground. Virat Kohli’s amazing knock of 63 runs was laced with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Suryakumar also played a terrific knock of 69 runs off 36 balls, smashing 5 fours and 5 sixes.

Meanwhile, after the match, during the post-match presentation, Virat Kohli opened up about the important message he received from the dugout during India’s epic chase against Australia. He revealed:

“When Surya started hitting it like that, I kind of looked at the dugout as well and Rohit (Sharma) and Rahul (Dravid) both told me, ‘you can just keep batting on’ because Surya (Suryakumar) was striking it that well. It was just about building a partnership. I just used my experience a little bit, stayed back and as soon as he went away I tried to take on the first couple of balls and got a six off Pat Cummins and that set me up again,”
