Virat Kohli Shared A Heartfelt Note For Aaron Finch As He Announced His Retirement From ODI

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli shared a heartfelt message to  the Australian white-ball captain Aaron Finch after the latter announced his retirement from One Day Internationals on Saturday. Aaron Finch, who has represented Australia in 145 ODIs and scored 5401 runs, will play his last ODI on September 11 when he will lead Australia in the third and final game against New Zealand at Cairns. 

The big news was announced by Cricket Australia that the final ODI in the ongoing series against New Zealand, which would be Finch’s final game in the 50-overs format. However, he will continue to lead Australia in T20Is.

Finch took to his social media and shared an emotional farewell letter and said that it was a  privilege playing with and against some of the greatest players of all time. He wrote that representing Australia was his dream as a kid and thanked the fans for their message as well. He wrote:

“It’s been one hell of a ride! To play with and against some of the greatest players of all time has been a privilege. Representing Australia was my dream as a kid and to have been the opportunities I have is beyond anything I could’ve hoped for. Thanks so much for all of the kind words, messages and well wishes!”

The post went viral in no time and was flooded with reactions from fans around the world. Several cricketers and experts also took to the comments section and dropped wishes for Finch.

Among many, former Indian captain Virat Kohli, who played with Aaron Finch during their time at Royal Challengers Bangalore, congratulated the Australian opener and said it was a great time, playing with him and against him. Virat also told Finch to enjoy the next phase of his life. He wrote:

“Well done finchy. It was great to play against you all these years and with you as well at rcb. Enjoy the next phase of your life to the fullest,”
