India cricket team came out to bat with a very positive frame of mind in the first T20I of the ongoing 3-match series against New Zealand. Kiwis won the toss and elected the bat first on a good batting wicket at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi.

It was a packed house because the match was one Delhi’s most famous and successful cricketers ever, Ashish Nehras last match for Indian cricket team. Delhi’s crowd came in numbers to support the local boy in his last match and gave him a fitting farewell.

Coming back to India’s batting Dhawan and Rohit took some time at the start of the innings but once they got used to the pace of the pitch, they smashed boundaries all around the park and made Kiwis’ bowling attack ordinary.

Shikhar Dhawan, another local boy, was the one who started the assault but Rohit, who is also known as ‘Hitman’, joined the party and played some very delightful strokes. Both the batsmen (Dhawan 80, Rohit Sharma 80) completed their fifties and put Indian in a very strong position.

After Dhawan’s wicket, Hardik Pandya came in to bat ahead of Virat Kohli but he went back without troubling the scorers, on the second ball of his innings. This brought the Indian captain, who is also a Delhi boy, in the middle and he played some beautiful strokes to take India pass the 200-run mark (202 to be precise), in their quota of 20 overs.

During his innings, Virat Kohli played many brilliant strokes but there was one shot that stood out in the highlights package. Colin de Grandhomme bowled a slower off-cutter but Virat Kohli picked it very early and played a stylish lofted drive that went sailing over the boundary ropes and on the second tier. Watch it here:
