Virat Kohli Stole Another Record From Sunil Gavaskar

You name a batting record and Virat Kohli has either rewritten it already or has every chance of doing that. Every innings of his is a record breaking narrative and the world is in awe of the Indian Captain for having redefined consistency and performance. He has emerged as one of the best batsman to have ever played the game.

New records made at Kotla

First he got his career best at Kotla in the first innings. He played marathon innings of 243 and then a half century in the second. With scores of 243 and 50 in the same match he is now the leader of the charts for runs scored by an Indian captain in the same test match.

He has gone past Sunil Gavaskar’s record of 289 runs in a test match at Kolkata in 1978. Kohli’s tally of 293 in the third test is the highest ever by an Indian captain. India has put Sri Lanka at the back foot and has a fair chance to win the test match and also the series.

Virat Kohli Stole Another Record From Sunil Gavaskar

He started off this series with a duck in the first innings at Kotla but he later went on to score 610 runs from 5 innings. His average in this series stands at an unbelievable tally go 152.5 and this shows how he is redefining batting across formats.

This tally of 610 runs is the most by Indian batsman in a 3 Match Test series and the 4th highest overall. Graham Gooch has the record for most runs in a 3 match test series with a staggering total of 752.

He is the 7th captain to have scored a double hundred and a half century in the same match. The last one to do so was Ricky Ponting in the 2009-2010 series between Australia and Pakistan.
Virat features 6 time in the list of top 10

Interestingly Virat Kohli finds himself featuring many a times in the list of most runs in a test match by an Indian captain. Kohli features 6 times in the list of top 10 captains in terms of runs in a test match. His milestones are just unbelievable but he’s making everything seem like a cake walk.
