The Indian superstar Virat Kohli started his journey in the ODI World Cup 2023 with a bang as he took an absolutely brilliant catch right at the start of India vs Australia match at Chepauk on Sunday, October 8.

The Indian cricket team needed an early wicket to start the game on a brilliant note and Jasprit Bumrah did the work for his team. Bumrah announced his arrival at the ODI World Cup 2023 with a blockbuster note as he provided just the right ball to produce an outside edge of the bat of opener Mitchell Marsh.

Bumrah did an amazing job by making Marsh play a poor shot and got the outside edge. The rest of the job was done by Virat Kohli behind the stumps at the slips.

Earlier, the Indian cricket team was asked to bowl first in the game against Australia as the visitors won the flip of the coin. India rested Shubman Gill, who has not recovered from dengue yet. Rohit Sharma will open the innings with Ishan Kishan, he confirmed. He said:

“The conditions are there for the bowlers and the ball will turn as the game goes on, you need to understand what line and lengths to bowl and adjust accordingly. We played a lot of cricket before that, we played two good series before the warm-up games, we have covered all bases. Unfortunately, he (Shubman Gill) didn’t recover in time, we waited till today morning and he couldn’t recover. Ishan comes in to replace him, he will open the batting,”

India’s XI: Rohit (C), Ishan, Kohli, Iyer, Rahul, Hardik, Jadeja, Ashwin, Bumrah, Siraj, Kuldeep.
