Star India batsman Virat Kohli has been left feeling “very paranoid” about the invasion of his privacy done by a person who uploaded a video of Kohli’s hotel room in Perth when the cricketer was away.
India played South Africa on Sunday at the Optus Stadium in Perth, with the Proteas clinching a 5-wicket win to go to the top of the Group 2 points table and near sealing a semi-final berth.
One of the talking points on Monday was raised by Kohli himself after he posted the leaked video on his Instagram with a strongly-worded caption, lamenting the invasion of his privacy done by either a hotel staff member or a general fan, in both cases, this is concerning.
Kohli uploaded this leaked video captured by a person, whose face can’t be seen and who wrote “King Kohli’s Hotel Room” in the video.
Unhappy and furious with his act, Kohli slammed the fan and the hotel. The 33-year-old Indian batter captioned his post: “I understand that fans get very happy and excited seeing their favourite players and get excited to meet them and I’ve always appreciated that. But this video here is appalling and it’s made me feel very paranoid about my privacy. If I cannot have privacy in my own hotel room, then where can I really expect any personal space at all?? I’m NOT okay with this kind of fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy. Please respect people’s privacy and not treat them as a commodity for entertainment.”

Virat Kohli’s wife, Anushka Sharma, a top Bollywood actress, said she had also faced such transgressions from fans when she was traveling.
Sharing her own experience with such violation of her privacy from fans, Anushka posted an Instagram story, writing: “Have experienced few incidents where some fans have shown no compassion or grace in the past but this really is the worst thing. An absolute disgrace and violation of human being and anyone who sees this and thinks “celebrity ho! toh deal krna padega” should know that you are also part of the problem.”
“Exercising some self control helps everyone. Also if this is happening in your bedroom, then where is the line?” questioned Anushka.
