The India vs Afghanistan World Cup 2023 contest was a much-awaited one among fans only for one reason: Virat Kohli vs Naveen-ul-Haq.
India and Afghanistan met on Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, which is Virat Kohli’s home crowd. The teasing and taunting of the Delhi crowd to Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq was constant throughout the day.
The Delhi crowd chanted “Kohli Kohli” to taunt Naveen when he was doing warm-ups before the match. The decibel levels reached a crescendo when Naveen came out to bat during Afghanistan’s innings.
The fans had jam-packed the Arun Jaitley Stadium until the evening when Naveen came out to bat at number 10. The fans chanted “Kohli Kohli” so loudly that it was being heard even outside the stadium!
One fan tweeted a video of the crowd chanted “Kohli Kohli” at the top of their voices.
He put the caption: “Believe me, this Kohli-Kohli chant is so loud that people upto 3-4 KM outside the stadium can hear it’

For the unversed, Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq had a big verbal battle during the IPL during the LSG vs RCB match in Lucknow. It continued on social media too later on.
Even in Afghanistan’s previous match, in Dharamsala against Bangladesh, the fans were seen chanting ‘Kohli Kohli’ when Naveen was fielding near the boundary line. This trend of the crowd trolling Naveen is likely to continue to all grounds wherever he will play in the World Cup.
Meanwhile, talking about the game, India are currently bossing Afghanistan. Jasprit Bumrah took a four-wicket haul as Afghanistan managed an under-par total of 272. Rohit Sharma made it look even smaller with his record-breaking 63-ball century, which is now the fastest ODI World Cup hundred by an Indian batsman. India are on course for a big victory.
