Superstar Indian cricketer Virat Kohli on Friday, August 18, completed 15 years in international cricket and this event was celebrated heavily by his millions and millions of fans.

The 34-year-old made his ODI debut on August 18, 2008, against Sri Lanka in Dambulla. In the next three years, he made his debut in the other two formats. By 2012, he had already become a cemented member of the Indian team across formats, and in the next 2-3 years, he was the designated heir to Sachin Tendulkar’s throne.

Such has been Virat Kohli’s domination across the three formats that many fans hail him as the greatest all-format batsman the game has ever seen. He was voted the ICC Cricket of the Decade in 2020 for his sheer success with the bat in hand.

While wishes poured in from all corners for Virat Kohli on Friday, one emotional wish came from someone very close to him and with whom he has traveled this journey by his side: Vikas Kohli, Virat’s brother.

Vikas Kohli took to Instagram to post a special message celebrating 15 years of Virat Kohli in international cricket.

“A boy who had a dream… and dedicated himself to achieving that dream…. Day in and day out… grinding himself… falling , failing but again getting up and fighting…. Journey still continues…. PROUD OF YOU BHAI… congratulations on your 15 Years in international cricket…. KEPP FIGHTING … KEEP SHINNING #fighter #dedication #commitment #motivation #viratkohli,” Vikas Kohli posted on Instagram.

Virat Kohli’s next assignment is the Asia Cup 2023, starting August 30, before the all-important ODI World Cup 2023 at home. This is likely to be the last ODI World Cup for the 34-year-old Kohli who won the trophy as a youngster back in 2011.

Kohli has played in the last three ODI World Cups. In 26 outings, he has scored 1030 runs at an average of 46 with the help of 2 centuries – against Bangladesh in 2011 and against Pakistan in 2015 – and 6 fifties. He has, however, faltered in the semi-finals of all three World Cups, recording scores of 9, 1, and 1.
