Virat Kohli

Former India captain Virat Kohli has set really standards not just as a batsman, but as a fitness model and athlete. Kohli is considered as an inspiration, along with his batting feats, for fitness enthusiats as well.

The Delhi-born cricketer changed the dynamics and talks regarding fitness not just in the Indian cricket team, but among Indian fans and the general public as well. Indian Batting Maestro introduced the Yo-Yo test as a fitness barometer when he took over the captaincy of the national side.

Virat has a good yo yo test score of 19. The Yo-Yo test is a fitness assessment done by cricketers around the world.

Under Kohli’s captaincy tenure, the minimum yo yo test score was 16. With his score being 19, he set some pretty high standards. However, Virat Kohli’s yo yo score of 19 is while really good, some players from other countries have beaten that score by considerable margin.

Interestingly, there are 3 Pakistani players as well who have a higher yo yo test score than King Kohli, even though Pakistani cricketers are reputed to not have elite fitness levels.

Here are 3 Pakistani players who have a higher yo yo test score than Virat Kohli’s score of 19:

Shan Masood – 21.1

Shan Masood

Left-handed opening batsman Shan Masood holds the world record among international cricket for the highest yo yo test score of a whopping 21.1.

Masood has played 28 Tests in his career from 2013 to 2023, averaging 28 with the bat with 4 centuries to his name. He may not be among the shining Pakistani stars, but Masood did shock everyone with his terrific yo yo test score back in 2017.

Mohammad Rizwan – 21

Mohammad Rizwan

Pakistan’s all-format wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan has rarely missed matches for his country due to injury or fitness issues. That speaks volumes of his commitment toward fitness, and thus his yo yo score of 21 is not surprising.

A courageous, fighting kind of character, Rizwan is amongst the top T20I openers in the world, having an average of 49 in T20Is. Rizwan helped Pakistani reach the semifinals of the 2021 T20 WC and final of the 2022 T20 WC. He also has 27 Tests and 57 ODIs under his belt.

Hasan Ali – 20

Hasan Ali

A surprising name on his list is that of experienced Pakistani fast bowler Hasan Ali, whose yo yo test score of 20 is higher than that of Virat Kohli. During a fitness camp ahead of the 2018 Asia Cup, Hasan recorded a yo yo test score of 20.

Hasan was Pakistani’s hero in the 2017 Champions Trophy, but since then has been in and out of the national side and not been able to cement a place in any of the three formats. Ali has 229 international wickets for Pakistan to his name.
