The cricket fraternity has been sent in a state of shock and concern since leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal made a sensational revelation of being put in a life-endangering position by one of his Mumbai Indians teammates in 2013.

The former RCB spinner Chahal, speaking in a video for his new franchise Rajasthan Royals, revealed a distressing story of bullying and physical harassment when one player in 2013 dangled him from a 15th-floor hotel balcony and any slip up could have resulted in fatal consequences. Thankfully, others quickly came in and helped him back.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag then took up to Twitter demanding Chahal to reveal the identity of this player; Sehwag was the first cricketer to speak up in this particular incident on social media. He also questioned whether Mumbai Indians took an action on this player.

“Important to reveal name of player who as per Chahal did this to him in a drunk state. If true, this cannot be treated as fun, important to know what happened and what action was taken considering the seriousness of this,” Virender Sehwag wrote on Twitter with a picture from a Bollywood movie Lage Raho Munna Bhai where Sanjay Dutt hangs a man upside down from the balcony.

However, now the tweet is deleted. Fans had slammed Sehwag for using a meme in such a serious situation. While now the tweet is deleted, some fans also have conjured up different conspiracies as to if Sehwag has now learned whether Chahal’s bully is his friend, or has the former opener been asked by more powerful authorities to delete his tweet.

So dishearting to know about yuzi ‘s story. No one must have the spunk to go to an extent regardless of the players position then, and obviously they didn’t care? It was yuzi from 2013 not now. That is what makes other teams different especially RCB,you see on yt the, environment

This is what Yuzvendra Chahal said in a Rajasthan Royals video, published on April 7, about how players handle tricky off-field situations:

“This dates back to 2013, when I was with Mumbai Indians. We had a match in Bengaluru and there was a get-together after that. So there was a player who was very drunk – and I won’t take his name – he was very drunk, he just called me aside, and he took me outside and he hung me out from the balcony.

“I was holding on to him, with my arms around his neck. If I had lost my grip, we were on the 15th floor… Suddenly many people who were there came and handled the situation. I kind of fainted, and they gave me water. Then I realised how responsible we need to be when we go anywhere. So that was one incident where I made a narrow escape. Had there been a small mistake there, I would have fallen down.”

Meanwhile, Chahal has been excellent so far for RR, picking up 7 wickets in 3 matches, and has bowled at a brilliant economy of 5.25.
