Delhi Capitals have finally reached the final in the Indian Premier League for the first-ever time after they defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Qualifier 2 by 17 runs on Sunday, in Abu Dhabi.

Coming out to bat first, Delhi Capitals scored 189 runs owing to the opening partnership of Marcus Stoinis and Shikhar Dhawan and a fantastic cameo by Shimron Hetymer.

Later, while defending the total, though Delhi started off on a brilliant note by taking 3 wickets in the powerplay only, SRH batsmen didn’t go down that easily.

This is a @Sunrisers appreciation tweet ??

We’re sure your fans and cricket fans in general are proud of the way you guys have played throughout the #Dream11IPL ??

Kane Williamson once again starred with the bat. Williamson’s 67 (45) and Abdul Samad’s 33 (16) staged a fightback from SRH and saved the match from turning it into a one-sided one. However, Marcus Stoinis’ wickets and Rabada’s closing spell saved the day for Delhi Capitals.

This is the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League that Delhi Capitals, who were regarded as ‘underperformers’, have impressed one and all with their performances and have finally made it to the final. During the 2019’s edition of the Indian Premier League, Delhi Capitals finished 3rd and lost in Qualifier 2 however, they have now gone one step ahead and are just one amazing performance away from lifting that prestigious cup.

As soon as DC defeated SRH to qualify for the final, netizens flooded the internet with their amazing reactions to the win. Among many, former Indian cricketer and batting legend Virender Sehwag also joined the bandwagon and came up with a hilarious tweet for Delhi Capitals.

In his tweet, he lauded DC for reaching the finals for the first time and also shared a hilarious Salman Khan’s meme expressing the long wait of DC fans. He wrote:

“Congratulations #DelhiCapitals on reaching the finals. The only active IPL team to have not ever played a final makes it to the final. 2020… Aur bahut kuch dikhayega.
#DCvSRH”
