Viru Paji has always shown that he would only stand by what’s right. As Kohli lashed out on the BCCI for poor scheduling Virender Sehwag came in his support. Kohli had lashed out on the board saying that the team should have got more time to prepare for the all crucial South Africa tour than what it is getting now.
He said that the board has failed to give enough time to the players to prepare for conditions in South Africa. He further added that if it rains during matches in South Africa then conditions would be even worse for team India.
Coming to his support Sehwag too said that the team should have got ample time and match practice on South African pitches to understand conditions well and prepare well. Sehwag also said that Rohit Sharma would captain the side for a while and Kohli be rested.
He also cited the example of the phase where in Gambhir was captaining the side and MS Dhoni was rested. He said that a similar thing should be done now and Kohli be given time to spend with his friends and family. He then added that if the Sri Lanka series was to be conducted then it should have been kept shorter to give the team enough time to get its strategy and training right for taking on the proteas.
Talking about Kohli’s burden he said that Kohli not playing against Sri Lanka wouldn’t have made any difference to the team’s winning chances. He said that Rohit Sharma is capable enough to lead the team in Kohli’s absence and the board should have considered that.
