Indian U19 Cricket Team created history on 3rd February 2018 by becoming the first team ever to win the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 4 times. Led by Prithvi Shaw and coached by Rahul Dravid, Indian U19 Cricket Team remained solid throughout the tournament and lifted the trophy.
2000 – lead by Mohammad Kaif
2008 – lead by Virat Kohli
2012 – lead by Unmukt Chand
2018 – lead by Prithvi Shaw
India outplayed almost every opposition in the tournament and proved that they are the best at this level. It was a complete ‘team show’ by India as many players stepped up at the right time and played their part.

Indian openers Shubnam Gill and Prithvi Shaw took the responsibility at the top of the order and kept scoring runs consistently. But, in the final, it was Manjot Kalra who anchored the Indian innings and scored a ‘World Cup winning’ hundred. It was a batting masterclass by Manjot as came in to bat at a difficult time and kept playing his natural game.
In the final, Shaw may not have performed as brilliantly as one may have expected as he was dismissed for 29 during the run chase, but he did enough to make a rather prestigious record his own.
It would be unfair if we don’t mention Rahul Dravid’s contribution in this victory. Dravid, who is one of the greatest batsmen in the history of the game, has been working very hard with the U19 kids and his mentorship has helped Indian U19 Cricket Team to create history.
Rahul Dravid’s former teammate and one of the mots destructive batsmen in the history of the game, Virender Sehwag, tweeted a very special message for Rahul Dravid after India defeated Australia in the final and lifted the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup trophy for the fourth time. Check out his tweet here:
These boys in such safe hands. Safest hands of Rahul Dravid. Great great contribution for the future of these youngsters and Indian Cricket. We have some great upcoming talent #INDvAUS
