After winning the ODI series 2-1, team India has whitewashed the Lankans in the T20 series. With a win at the Wankhede team India has sealed the series 3-0 and that’s a perfect moment just ahead of the Christmas celebrations.
Rohit Sharma has had a splendid year both, as a batsman and for his short lived captaincy assignments in the absence of Virat Kohli.
Rohit Sharma who has led the team in the ODI series as well as the T20 series has created a unique record. Having won this series by clean sweeping the Lankans, Rohit Sharma has equalled MS Dhoni’s record for captaincy.
MS Dhoni was the only Indian captain to whitewash the opposition in a T20 series in the year 2016. Now Rohit Sharma shares this record with MS Dhoni.
As India has decimated Sri Lanka, Virender Sehwag is all praises for Rohit Sharma. Sehwag shared a special message for Rohit Sharma in which he lauded his performance as well captaincy. Rohit Sharma hit a blistering double ton in the ODI series and then in T20 series he went about hitting the fastest ever T20 century.
Rohit Sharma is in sensational form and he seems unstoppable. Rohit also claimed the record for most sixes in a calendar year after his hundred at Indore.
Now the South African challenge awaits India and the team’s fortunes in the limited overs format will be largely dependent on Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
It’s amazing that Rohit is in such good form just ahead of the beginning of the South African tour. His captaincy stint is over but his responsibility as a batsman gets larger in the tough conditions that South Africa has to offer.
