Indian captain Rohit Sharma is one of the best white-ball batters of all time. The right-handed opening batter, who made his debut for India on September 18, 2007, against England during the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in South Africa, is all set to lead the Indian cricket team in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, followed by the ODI World Cup 2023. All the hopes are on Rohit to end India’s decade-long ICC trophy drought. With two major events coming for India, Rohit is aiming to make India proud.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Asia Cup, which is all set to kickstart in a couple of days, Vivian Richards, one of the most celebrated batsmen of all time, showered praise on the Indian captain Rohit Sharma, stating he is a very highly skilled player.

In a video of the interview uploaded on journalist Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel, he asked Richard about the admiration he received from India greats Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, who are known to be big fans of the West Indian batter. Responding to this he said:

“Well, the respect is certainly mutual. I do have a lot of respect for them, what they would have achieved. I admire them dearly, you know, the Kapil Devs and all the individuals who would have helped to build and to make Indian cricket.”

He ended his answer with an epic statement, saying, “You got too many good batsmen in that part of the world, why don’t you just send some of these guys to the Caribbean.”

Viv Richards further added that he felt that the Indian cricket team was in good hands with Rohit Sharma. He expressed his admiration for the Indian captain by saying he loved to watch players like Rohit express themselves. He said:

“I’ve always loved (to watch) Rohit. I love watching players who express themselves. To be where he is today, continuing to be a great batsman, its fantastic.”

Talking about Rohit Sharma, he is currently gearing up for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The team India skipper is in Alur for a five-day camp before the Continental Cup kicks on August 30.
