Vrinda Dinesh Recalls Why She Could Not Video Call Her Mother After WPL Contract

While basking in the joy of her success, Vrinda faced a dilemma – the emotional call to her mother. Choosing not to make a video call from Raipur to Bengaluru, the first person Vrinda contacted after the auction was her mother. The mere mention of her bid of Rs 1.30 crore brought tears to her mother’s eyes. The distance between Raipur and Bengaluru dissolved in the shared emotions of pride and happiness. Vrinda’s choice to avoid a video call didn’t diminish the impact of the moment; instead, it accentuated the depth of the emotional connection between mother and daughter.
As Vrinda expressed, “I am in Raipur at the moment with the (Karnataka) team. When the auctions were going on last evening, I was bowling in the nets and I heard my teammate whispering to my colleague ‘We got picked for 1.3 (crore)’. It was something unbelievable and I never expected. The batters and keepers and coaches left the nets and came and hug me and it was very nice, very genuine. The first person I called was my mom and I think she was in tears. I didn’t video call because I knew I could see those tears and there was a very faint voice. I knew they were really happy for me and overwhelmed and I want to just make them proud.
Vrinda Dinesh’s poignant revelation sheds light on the emotional rollercoaster experienced during the WPL auction. The unexpectedness of her bid, the genuine celebration in the nets, and the tearful connection with her mother collectively create a narrative that resonates beyond the cricketing world.
