KL Rahul is one of the most destructive batsmen in world cricket. He has been ‘hot and cold’ in his international career so far but in the last couple of series, he has shown great touch and scored runs consistently batting at various positions. In the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand, KL Rahul has scored runs in both the matches and provided a great platform for the batting unit at the top of the order.

Rahul is one of those very few talented batsmen who can make even big-hitting look classy with his technique and elegance. In the second T20I, he played a brilliant match-winning unbeaten knock of 57 runs. KL guided India to a comfortable seven-wicket win and sent out a strong message across to fans and selectors that he has finally arrived and now he is here to stay.

In his last five T20 innings, KL Rahul scored more than 300 runs and looked a class apart with his aggression, style, and technique. Former Indian cricketer and a well-known cricket commentator and analyst, VVS Laxman posted a beautiful tweet in praise of KL Rahul after the second T20I.

VVS Laxman wrote that he is very impressed with KL Rahul’s versatility and the ease with which he has adapted to different positions and roles in limited-overs cricket.

“Over 300 runs for KL Rahul in his last 5 T20 innings. Very impressed with the versatility that he has shown and adapted to different positions and roles.  Great support from Shreyas Iyer. But this win was set up by the bowlers who did not let NZ batsman getaway,” VVS Laxman tweeted.

Here’s what KL Rahul said after his match-winning innings:

“Obviously different circumstances, the target was different, the pitch was a little different from what we played on a couple of days ago. So I knew I couldn’t play the same way I played a couple of days ago,” said KL Rahul, who was adjudged the Man of the Match.

“I had a different responsibility today. We lost our senior players Rohit and Virat early so I had to stay in there and make sure I finish the game.”

“I think the understanding of my game and how I’m reading the situation and reading the game has gotten better for me. That’s helped me be more consistent and I’ve always put the team ahead and thought about what the team requires at that moment,” KL Rahul said.

“More often than not I’ve come up with the right shots and right answers so that’s been the mantra for my success in the last several T20s.”
