New Zealand’s star player Jimmy Neesham played an explosive cameo in the first semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium that powered New Zealand to defeat England by 5 wickets.
Chasing the target of 167 runs, the New Zealand cricket team put up a stellar performance to take the team home with an over to spare. Though, the Kiwis struggled initially in the chase as they could only score 36/2 by the end of the Powerplay overs but soon they picked up the ante to take the game by storm.

Daryl Mitchell played a stunning unbeaten knock of 72 runs off 47 balls and was adjudged man-of-the-match. Neesham then turned the match on its head in the 23-run 17th over, smashing Chris Jordan for two sixes and a four.
Jimmy Neesham has been receiving praises from all corners today for his terrific performance, however, there was a time when the cricketer wanted to quit cricket. Not many are aware of the fact that sometime back in 2017, Neesham was gripped by a growing sense of depression. He had revealed how he wanted to wake up in the mornings of the game, open the shades of his room, and would hope for rain.
Meanwhile, legendary batsman and former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman took to his Twitter and wrote a beautiful tweet for Jimmy. In his Tweet, VVS expressed that how Neesham wanted to quit the game but he played a match-winning innings to help the Kiwis qualify for the finals.
VVS Laxman also shared an old Tweet, where he had hailed the semi-final hero for almost winning NZ their World Cup 2019. The tweet read:
“Jimmy Neesham , was thinking of quitting the game in 2017 and today playing a match defining innings to help New Zealand qualify for the finals. Never give up is the lesson, Sport is a great teacher #ENGvsNZ”
