Pakistan’s legendary cricketer Wasim Akram heaped praises on England’s star bowler James Anderson after his blockbuster performance against the Indian cricket team during the opening day of the third Test match at the Headingley Cricket Ground, Leeds.

James Anderson bowled his heart out during India’s first innings as he set the tone right from the beginning of the game as he got rid of KL Rahul in the first over itself. The veteran pacer put on an exhibition of some great swing bowling to get rid of India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara and the big fish Virat Kohli without letting them trouble the scoreboard much.

He had a remarkable day as not just he picked three crucial wickets but he also managed to take control of the day by keeping the host on the toes. The sensational right-arm swing bowler finished with figures of 8-5-6-3.

Impressed with the performance of Jimmy Anderson, Wasim Akram took to his Twitter and showered praises on him. In his tweet, he called Anderson the ‘King of Swing’ and expressed how he loved his passion and control. He wrote:

Later after the match, Anderson spoke to BBC’s Test Match Special, he explained they had a good day after the crushing defeat at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in the second Test match. He said:

“We had a really low week at Lord’s, certainly the last day, but we had a good few days off to let that pass and concentrate on good things we did. We played well for four days there and came here hungry and ready to show fight. We did that with the ball, the whole attack did really well. Then the two guys with the bat showed so much skill and fight. We knew it’s an important Test so wanted to start well.”
