Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has urged the former Indian captain Virat Kohli to show a little bit of patience as he looks forward to overcoming a rough patch. Virat Kohli, who has been struggling with his batting performances, has had a tough time so far in the ongoing home limited-overs series against the West Indies.

Though he showed signs of a comeback after having scored two half-centuries in the away One Day series against Proteas last month but he failed to leave a mark with his performance in the ongoing series. The stage was all set for Virat Kohli, who is fondly called the ‘run-machine’,  however, he could only manage 26 runs from three ODIs including a duck. Even in the 1st T20I on Wednesday but once again he failed to make it back as he had to walk back to the pavilion with only 17 runs to his name.

Due to his poor form and inconsistent performances, he has found himself at the receiving end of criticism and trolling. Meanwhile, former India Test opener Wasim Jaffer has backed King Kohli despite going through a rough patch.

Wasim Jaffer has urged Virat to show some patience as things are not going his way despite him trying his best. At the same time, Jaffer also mentioned that once Virat breaks the barrier and gets back his form he would score runs consistently as he used to do in the past. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Jaffer said:

“I am sure he is working as hard behind the scenes as he has been doing all these years, and with the same intensity. But, every cricketer goes through this phase where he is unable to score despite trying his best”,

He added: “Virat Kohli needs to show a little bit of patience. Once he breaks that barrier, I am sure we will see consistent scores from him again,”

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will be seen in action tonight in the 2nd T20I against Windies. It will be interesting to see whether he is able to make it big with the bat.
