The young opener from Maharashtra, Ruturaj Gaikwad impressed one and all last year, when he turned out to be the rare spark in a gloomy Chennai Super Kings (CSK) season. Ruturaj was drafted in the Yellow squad for the latter half of the previous season, but he gave terrific performances to life the faltering campaign of CSK.
Ruturaj Gaikwad continued with his terrific performances in the first half of the 2021 season as well, where he scored 284 runs in eight outings.

Now, as the league has now resume where it all started for him, Ruturaj is carrying it forward. He played a crucial and game-changing knock to help Chennai Super Kings fight back and score a 20-run win over arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in the opening match of the second phase of IPL 2021 in Dubai.
Ruturaj walked out to bat with all-guns-blazing. While the batters on the other side kept falling, Ruturaj made sure to didn’t let the pressure affect his game, as he played a sublime knock. Ruturaj and Ravindra Jadeja formed a crucial partnership and bailed CSK out. While Jadeja was playing cautiously, happily dealing in ones and twos, on the other hand, Gaikwad was smashing the MI bowlers to all the corners of the ground.
Gaikwad’s unbeaten 58-ball 88* brought the much-needed momentum back to the game and also lifted the mood of the fans, who were left disappointed after the top-order collapse.
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer, who is known for his hilarious sense of humor, hailed Gaikwad with an amazing tweet. Impressed with the performance of Gaikwad, Wasim took to his Twitter and shared a picture of Rajnikanth and wrote:
“Not surprised to see someone named Gaikwad doing well in Chennai”
