WTC Final 2023: The Indian cricket fans are still recovering from the heartbreak they suffered after team India’s humiliating defeat at the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at the Oval in London but they had to witness yet another defeat as team India failed to break their ICC title drought.
India Lost WTC Final 2023 To Australia
The Australian cricket team secured their maiden ICC World Test Championship title with a win against the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team in the summit clash on Sunday. Riding on the centuries of Steve Smith and Travis Head powered Australia to a massive 209-run win over the Indian cricket team in the WTC Final at The Oval.
What disappointed fans the most was the fact that with this defeat, the Indian side has extended their trophyless run in ICC events. Team India has gone 10 years without winning an ICC trophy. It was in 2013, under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, when team India lost and won the ICC trophy. Ever since then, India has been struggling to get their hands on an ICC title. Also, this was India’s second attempt at the WTC Final. They earlier lost the first world test final in 2021 against New Zealand in Southampton.
Indian Fan’s Rant Has Gone Viral
Meanwhile, ever since India’s defeat in the WTC Final, social media has been buzzing with reactions from the fans, who are expressing their disappointment. Among many, a fan’s reaction to the loss has insanely viral.
The video of the frustrated fan ranting over team India’s disappointing performances over the years has been making rounds on the internet. In the video, the fan can be seen saying:
“We supported Team India from the time we started watching cricket but we cannot support the team blindly. We are spending our money and time on them so it’s natural we would get angry”
He added: “Virat is my favorite player and I made this poster for him but the criticism should be done where it is due. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma do not perform well at knock stages. They have been performing like this since 2013”
The fan further stressed that the Indian board needs to look beyond IPL. He said:
“They perform well in IPL but not here. If you know you have to play in WTC you could have left a couple of RCB matches, you could have left two Mumbai Indians matches. also what benefits they got from IPL? They haven’t won any T20 World Cup after 2007.”
The fan added:
“Can your domestic system not produce one good Test player? Sarfaraz Khan is making runs but they will not play him. Easwaram is also facing the same problem. But they will include Ishan Kishan because he is making runs in the IPL.”
