KKR all-rounder Andre Russell has kicked off his IPL 2024 campaign with a bang by bashing 64* runs in only 25 balls against SRH at KKR’s home ground, Eden Gardens.
Even though it was just the first half of the match, the fans at the Eden would have felt their money was already worth it as they got to see carnage from Andre Russell, who walloped 3 fours and 7 huge sixes in his innings, one of which was a gigantic 102-meter hit to leg-spinner Mayank Markande.
SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first, and SRH were on top at one point when they had KKR in trouble at 51/4 and then at 119/6. But KKR’s two best batters – Rinku Singh and Andre Russell – were now at the crease and the pair pulled off a stunning finish to put the team’s total to 208.
Russell and Rinku put on a partnership of 81 (33), out of which Rinku scored only 15 and Russell cracked 62 (23). Russell’s assault was simply sensational with barely a mistimed or misconnected hit.

On the first ball of the 16th over, until when he had faced only five balls, Andre Russell went after leg-spinner Mayank Markande. The West Indian tore into Markande with three sixes on the leg-side, the biggest of which was measured at 102 meters. Markrande tried changing his lines and pace, but Russell kept clearing his front leg and tonking the ball on the legside for gigantic sixes.
