Kumar Sangakkara Convincing Other Franchises To Bid For Jofra Archer: Two days of scintillating IPL 2022 mega auction was completed on Sunday in Bengaluru, with a total of 204 players sold for a record price of Rs. 551 crore. While India’s young batter Ishan Kishan remained the biggest buy as Mumbai Indians paid a whopping Rs 15.25 crore to buy him back in the team. One of the biggest talking points from the second day of the mega auction for the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was the bidding war for Jofra Archer.

While the other teams were exhausting their purses during the auction, it was during the Jofra Archer’s bidding, when Mumbai Indians were seen active on Sunday as they were involved in an intense bidding war until they bought him for INR 8 crore.

However, it was the act of Rajasthan Royals’ Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara that caught the attention of fans on social media.

Well, a video has been going crazily viral on social media, where Sangakkara can be seen persuading other franchises to bid for Archer after Mumbai outbid Rajasthan to pull ahead during Jofra’s proceeding.

In the video, Kumar Sangakkara was spotted signaling to members of other franchises, presumably asking them to bid for Jofra in order to prevent Mumbai Indians from laying their hands on Jofra Archer, who is hailed as one of the best T20I bowlers in the world. But despite all these acts, Mumbai Indians was able to secure the services of Jofra Archer for INR 8 crore.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians invested in Archer despite knowing that the sensational bowler won’t be available for the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, because of injury concerns. Later, Akash Ambani also explained the reason behind buying Jofra Archer in the virtual press conference. He had said:

“I think we took all those considerations in after yesterday what fast bowlers went at. One option became very clear to us that Jofra was the only marquee fast bowler left in the list. So, we had discussed his name previously also and of course, he’s not available this year. But we believe in the best of him and when he is fit and available, I believe that with Bumrah he will make a formidable partnership,”

“With Jofra, we bid for all the fast bowlers before him. So, we were just priced out of all of them. The plan really firmed up last night saying ‘Yes, we should go for him’. It’s not that we were setting aside a budget; it’s just the way auction dynamics was. We definitely did discuss his name in our pre-auction meetings. But the plan was really firmed up last night.”
