Watch: Mayank Agarwal And Deepak Hooda Get In Ugly Mix-Up

Ahead of the clash against Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings were left in shock as their young and talented skipper KL Rahul was ruled out from IPL 2021 as he was hospitalized because of severe abdominal pain. In his absence, Mayank Agarwal was asked to step up as the stand-in skipper.

Asked to bat first, Mayank Agarwal walked out to open the innings for his team with all-guns-blazing and gave a powerful performance of 99 runs. However, during his knock a horrible mix-up took place between him and Deepak Hooda.

The incident took place on the third ball of the 14th over, two balls after David Malan was dismissed by Axar Patel. Mayank Agarwal, who was on strike, hit the ball to extra cover and ran off, ending up at the non-striker’s end with Deepak Hooda. Shimron Hetmyer grabbed the opportunity and flicked the ball to Axar, who shattered the stumps at the non-striker’s end and threw it to Pant again, who also did the same.

While everyone, including the commentators, thought that Deepak Hooda was adjudged out as he was ahead of Mayank while entering the end, however, as per the rules, since both players did not cross and the non-striker stump is broken, the non-striker is out; leaving fans confused.

The video of the hilarious mix-up has been going viral on social media. Here, watch the video:
