Even though the IPL 2023 is a long way away, Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has commenced his training and preparation for the 16th edition of the tournament, which is likely to start in the last week of March next year.

On Friday, a video of MS Dhoni batting in the nets went viral that has got the fans hailing the commitment of the CSK skipper.

In the video that tugs the heartstrings of MS Dhoni’s fans, the former India captain can be seen batting in the nets at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA). The Jharkhand cricket team is currently participating in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Dhoni perhaps joined the state players.

Also, Dhoni doesn’t play domestic cricket anymore. So to keep himself in rhythm with his batting between the IPL seasons, Dhoni began his batting practice much earlier for next year’s tournament.

MS Dhoni confirms his return to Chepauk next season

Recently, in an event Dhoni attended, the 41-year-old confirmed his and CSK’s return to Chepauk next year. Earlier, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had said that the IPL will return to the home and away format from IPL 2023.

Now, Thala Dhoni himself reaffirmed this news as the 10-team tournament will be played full-fledged

at home and away venues.

The franchise’s official Twitter handle shared a picture of MS Dhoni from the event in which he can be seen surrounded by fans and captioned the image, “We’ll come back to Chepauk next year”- Anbuden Thala #WhistlePodu #Yellove.”

Four-time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings finished 9th in the points table this year with only 4 wins, above Mumbai Indians only on net run rate. They had a controversy-marred season which involved changing of the captaincy from Ravindra Jadeja to MS Dhoni after CSK’s poor start to the season under Jadeja’s captaincy. The all-rounder is reportedly upset with the franchise and might even be asked to be released!
