Responding to India’s innings, South African opener Dean Elgar played a pivotal role, scoring a century that underscored his excellence in the game. This remarkable feat held added significance as it marked Elgar’s last Test match at his home ground. The seasoned cricketer notched up his 14th Test hundred, displaying impeccable skill and contributing 20 boundaries to South Africa’s innings.

As the action unfolded on the second day, the match hung in the balance with South Africa at 256 for 5 wickets, leading by 11 runs.
